Friends,
It’s Sunday. I hope this email finds you well.
Here’s five things you may find interesting and/or meaningful.
1. A Quote 💭
I’ve been rereading this note by John Coltrane over and over and over:
"There is never any end. There are always new sounds to imagine; new feelings to get at. And always, there is the need to keep purifying these feelings and sounds so that we can really see what we’ve discovered in its pure state. So that we can see more and more clearly what we are. In that way, we can give to those who listen to the essence, the best of what we are. But to do that at each stage, we have to keep on cleaning the mirror.”
2. Travel Journals 🗺️
What a fun way to remember trips.
3. Better Sleep 🍵
This delicious pre-sleep recipe via The Broadplace.
AYURVEDIC SPICED MILK (serves 1)
//
1 cup of raw organic milk or organic milk
1/2 cup water
2 cardamom pods (crack open a little)
1/4 tsp turmeric
a tiny pinch of ginger powder
a tiny pinch of nutmeg
a tiny dash of cinnamon
either raw honey or coconut sugar
//
Place all the ingredients in a small saucepan and gently bring to the boil - and whatever you do don’t let it boil over! Simmer gently on low for 10 minutes and then add your sugar or honey. If you use honey, whatever you do don’t add it to hot milk as this creates Ama (toxicity) in the body, and is a big no no in Ayurveda.
And good night! 💤
Also this : a simple profound tool that will enhance your sleep by 30%
4. 🍌
The Moment Has Arrived - David Shrigley
5. A Poem 👻
The Art of Disappearing - Naomi Shihab Nye
When they say Don’t I know you?
say no.
When they invite you to the party
remember what parties are like
before answering.
Someone telling you in a loud voice
they once wrote a poem.
Greasy sausage balls on a paper plate.
Then reply.
If they say We should get together
say why?
It’s not that you don’t love them anymore.
You’re trying to remember something
too important to forget.
Trees. The monastery bell at twilight.
Tell them you have a new project.
It will never be finished.
When someone recognizes you in a grocery store
nod briefly and become a cabbage.
When someone you haven’t seen in ten years
appears at the door,
don’t start singing him all your new songs.
You will never catch up.
Walk around feeling like a leaf.
Know you could tumble any second.
Then decide what to do with your time.
See you next Sunday.
