Friends!
Itās the weekend.
And the final Dossier newsletter post from me. Itās been 125 weeks.
Thank you for reading along these past 30 odd months š
If youāre prone to nostalgia, hereās the first post from May 2020 for you.
Hereās three things you may find interesting and/or meaningful.
1. On Choosing Wine š·
Usually I choose wine based 99% on how much I love the label (donāt @ me sommeliers reading this) BUT this wine I will choose based on her absolutely brilliant name.
No Man Is An Island, 2014
2. Goodbye š
This is beautiful (TW: loss of a pet)
3. A Poem šš¼
āIn Blackwater Woodsā by MaryĀ Oliver
Look, the trees
are turning
their own bodies
into pillars
of light,
are giving off the rich
fragrance of cinnamon
and fulfillment,
the long tapers
of cattails
are bursting and floating away over
the blue shoulders
of the ponds,
and every pond,
no matter what its
name is, is
nameless now.
Every year
everything
I have ever learned
in my lifetime
leads back to this: the fires
and the black river of loss
whose other side
is salvation,
whose meaning
none of us will ever know.
To live in this world
you must be able
to do three things:
to love what is mortal;
to hold it
against your bones knowing
your own life depends on it;
and, when the time comes to let it go,
to let it go.
Take care of yourselves.
