114. It Is Our Light, Not Our Darkness That Most Frightens Us 💡
Friends,
It's the weekend!
A reminder from the island:
Here’s three things you may find interesting and/or meaningful.
1. Reading 🩴
In praise of doing nothing on holiday.
“The main thing to remember is to loosen up and enjoy unwinding. Doing ‘nothing’ on your travels isn’t about feeling bored, it’s about feeling rested and relaxed. If the thought of sitting by the pool fills you with dread, consider other ways that you could fill your days. How do you like to relax? Long walks and lingering meals are great ways to pass time, but be wary of rushing, trying to reach a particular destination or finish your meal by a certain time. The best way to ensure you are doing nothing is by removing your watch and leaving your phone in your room.
Leave the guidebooks at home and allow yourself to simply wake up in the morning and do whatever you feel like throughout the day.”
2. A Poem 🫶🏼
Our Deepest Fear — By Marianne Williamson
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness
That most frightens us.
We ask ourselves
Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small
Does not serve the world.
There's nothing enlightened about shrinking
So that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine,
As children do.
We were born to make manifest
The glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us;
It's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we're liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others.
3. Sunday Nights 🌑
Sunday nights are the best time to do this.
See you next Sunday.
